The Academy is designed to help foster professional relationships through team building activities and online experiences. Academy participants will gain knowledge and skills and also have the opportunity to work together online with other professionals to develop a stronger network of peers.
The agenda is simple in design: One 3 hour session per week for six weeks.
Each week we will instruct on one topic and its related skills, provide an online small group opportunity to make application of the topic and network with other professionals.
The Academy experience will enhance your skills and ability to perform your professional responsibilities. Evaluations will improve! Supervisors will take notice!
Skills Academy Agenda
Each session will be online from 9:00 am- 12:00 CDT one day per week
1- Communication Skills: Learn about communication models & active listening then create a “communication plan” template.
2- Public Speaking Skills : Learn about the 5 elements of public speaking then create a “public speaking template.
3- Facilitation Skills: Learn about group processes and how to facilitate meaningful discussions. Discover how to utilize a simple model to process any activity.
4- Developing Presentations: Learn about the 4 A’s then create a presentation template to use for every presentation.
5- Managing the Learning Environment: Learn how to create a learning environment and develop classroom procedures.
6- Enhancing Your Teaching Skills: Learn about learning styles, engagement tools and how to establish classroom norms.
A certificate of completion and 18 continuing education hours will be awarded upon successful completion of this academy. If for any reason a participant misses part of the Academy they can still be awarded continuing education hours for their completed sessions. In order to build professional relationships Academy participants need to be present for each session and active in their small groups. Registration for individual sessions and/ or make up sessions are not available.
